Donald I. Smith Aerospace Young Scholar Award
Allocations from this endowment shall fund one or more undergraduate and/or graduate level scholarships for qualified students enrolled in the University of North Dakota John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences. Qualified students will have a proven record of academic achievement and the strong potential to succeed in the aviation/aerospace industry.
The donor wishes that the successful recipients are licensed pilots or demonstrate a desire to become a licensed pilot or flight instructor. Preference will be given to:
- undergraduate juniors, seniors or applicants for a Master’s or Ph.D. degree program from the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences
- undergraduate juniors or seniors from other institutions who are applying to the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences for an undergraduate or Master’s degree and who are planning to go on to earn a Ph.D. in an aerospace field; or
- applicants to the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences for a Master’s degree who are planning to go on to earn a Ph.D. in an aerospace field and who already have a record of achievement in the aerospace industry and who are seeking to change their career from practice to teaching; or 4) current faculty or staff, for the purposes of faculty development, who are pursuing advanced degrees and who show great promise as long-term future educators within the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences.
